O Christmas Tree, O Christmas Tree...
This year we decided it would be really fun to chop down our Christmas tree ourselves. The day after thanksgiving we along with Mimi and Paw paw went to a Christmas tree lot in Van Alystne to find the perfect tree. We were one of the first ones there so we had many to choose from. After about an hour of searching and trying to pick the perfect one, Ava and Matthew finally decided on one. Matt along with Matthew's help, chopped down the tree. We then brought it home and decorated it as well as the house. Matt and Paw paw put up the lights outside. It was a group effort to get it all done while the weather was nice. I think it all was a success, we have a beautifully decorated tree and house to begin our Advent season.

pictures 2011
The sat. before Thanksgiving, we met up with a photographer and took some outdoor family pictures. Though, I've wanted to do this for some time, the twins weren't quite old enough. So, this year I took a chance and for the most part it went well. Jake was a little upset in the beginning, but he soon got over it and had fun with the rest of the kids. Here are some of the pics below:

All Hallow's Eve Party 2011
We attended the All Hallow's Eve party at our church. The kids had a blast dressing as their favorite saint and playing all the carnival games. They were even more excited to win tickets to buy little treasures. This year I was asked to help out with one of the games and Matt had to go to Mass, so I did not get as many pics as I'd like. I did however catch Jillian shoving the last of her candy in her mouth...yikes! Poor thing did have a tummy ache by the time we left. Ava dressed as Our Lady of Lourdes, Matthew was St. Francis of Assisi, Rachael was St. Joan of Arc, and Jillian was Bl. Mother Teresa. Jake dressed in his cars pjs...he was sick with a fever and had to miss the festivities.
Pumpkin Patch Field Trip
It's time for pumpkin pickin' at our favorite pumpkin patch...The Big Orange Pumpkin Farm. The kids really look forward to this each year. We met several of our friends there. We fed animals, went on hayrides, and had a picnic lunch among the pumpkins. We also took a few photos.

School Days September 2011
Another school year has begun. Ava will continue 4Th grade, Matthew 3rd. I'll admit for those of you who are not there yet, the work doubles in these grades...fair warning. We are hanging in there nevertheless, with some field trips and hands on projects will help us through it with some fun! History continues to be the favorite for both with Math the least(really no way to make that fun.) Rachael is in Kindergarten this year and loving the fact she also has school work along with her brother and sister. She does really well with it and since we started it over the summer she is almost done with some of the phonics and writing lessons for this year. Gymnastics, baseball, piano, soccer, and horseback riding are their extra curricular activities for the fall. If I get a chance I'll post some pics of their projects and activities!
Also, you might have noticed the pics below with kids and shower caps. Well we had our first (and hopefully last) experience with lice. When Rachael/Ava went in for their well checks, their pedi noticed it (how humiliating for mom.) She told us that mayo and a shower cap on for 4 hours does the trick. She was right...it got rid of all of it. We only had to comb out the nits for a few days after that. I couldn't resist the picture moments. Rachael passed out doing her school work on the last photo.

Jake and Jillian Turn 3
How time flies...I can't believe my "babies" are 3!!! We celebrated their birthday actually on the day. Grandparents came over and we had hot dots, chips/dips, and fruit salad. Jake wanted a Cars cake, and Jillian didn't really specify what kind of cake she wanted..."just cake" is what she said when I asked. So I made her a butterfly cake. They were both pleased with their own cakes.
They are growing by leaps and bounds. Since this post is late, I can tell you at their well check Jake weighed 28lbs and Jillian 36lbs. Their pedi was "impressed" on their developmental level also saying they look very good health wise. I can also say, since this post is late that Jillian is now potty trained!!! Jake is not quite ready yet.
We did not put them in preschool this year and I think they are starting to get bored with reading and playing on their own. I found a preschool program to do at home that looks really fun and will hopefully give them the extra attention they need. Hopefully I'll get a chance to post some of their projects!

Florida Vacation 2011
Finally, our much anticipated trip has arrived! Florida, here we come! Our trip took about 10hours to get there, but an unanticipated 2 hours stuck in traffic in our final 15 miles was not that fun. When we arrived, we were greeted by many of our family members and a great big ocean with a private beach. That was the best part of our trip...the ocean. The worse would arrive a couple days later, when you were litererally swimming with the jellies (like Nemo.) At least the stings weren't so bad, and by the afternoon when the water got warm, they were gone. The kids got to meet many of their cousins they've never seen before. They had a blast swimming with them and playing games with them. We also stopped by the naval museum, which to my amazement was huge. You could easily spend a couple days in there and still not see everything they had. Matt, Matthew, and Jake were in heaven. The girls and I enjoyed the first couple of hours, but were ready to go. Here are pics below of our vacation.
