SNOW DAY!

what a winter it has been...enough already! this is our 3rd time to get snow this season. the kids however, are not complaining except for the fact that they are not off of school.

i haven't written an update on the kids in a while so here we go:

ava has been a wonderful big sister and helper to us. i'm so thankful for her. she does her school work with very little complaint if any and always works really hard to do her best. Rachael caught a little cold this past weekend and ava was her nurse. she read her stories, brought her a cold wash cloth for her forehead and would make her drink lots of water. ava still loves gymnastic wednesdays and is looking forward to soccer starting this spring. her current interest now is sewing doll clothes for her dolls and stuffed animals. we might find her a sewing class this summer since i know nothing but hand sewing.
matthew is all pumped up about baseball starting. matt has been practicing with him. His batting and catching has improved already from last season. matthew also looks forward to gymnastic wednesday. his favorite school subject is history/geography which he always wants to do that first. matthew still loves his legos and can play for hours with them. he does set aside time to play blocks with his baby brother though.
rachael has grown from crazy, wild toddler to a patient school girl overnight it seems. she just decided that she too needs to do schoolwork everyday and has started her kindergarten curriculum this past month. it has amazed me the attention and patience she has given her work since she has shown no interest prior. rachael is reading her little bob books and moving through the levels (i can't remember which level we are currently on...she usually brings me the next book when we have mastered one.) she also looks forward to gymnastic wednesdays and will start soccer this spring with ava.
jillian still thinks she's about 4yrs. she talks very clearly and has the best coordination of all my kids. she can walk up behind you and you 'd never know it for she makes not a sound. she concentrates hard on her drawings and colorings. she enjoys bossing jake and anyone else who will listen (typical female personality in my family.) i'm currently listening to her on the monitor and she's singing the baby jesus song she learned in school instead of napping.
jake is all boy. very laid back personality and loves to get into stuff. he has been fighting strep for a month now and has huge tonsils which we now have to see an ent dr. this friday. i'm hopeful we get there and he's all better...we'll see. anyways he has been amazingly happy despite being sick. he enjoys pestering his sister. he takes a toy out of her hands and runs as fast as he can to get away from her. he never learns. his preschool says he's really good at computers and loves some mickey mouse game that he laughed hysterically for 15minutes one day. jake loves for you to read books to him and play trains. he's talking a little more now using more sentences.
no exciting family news except for planning vacations this summer and field trips for the kids this spring. matt and i celebrated our 13th wedding anniversary this past january in which we went out for a quiet dinner away from kids. very nice.
