Astronomy Summer

We did not do a science this past year so I found a program that would be fun and have some experiments to do this summer. Astronomy has been something the kids have been wanting to study so its a win/win situation. We also plan to visit the planetarium a couple times this summer to make it even more exciting and to get a better look at what we've been stuying. Below is some pics of our venus molted rock experiment to get an idea on what venus's surface is like.

Little Flowers Tea Party

Okay, I know its not a traditional tea party, but we thought this year we'd do a picnic version of one. Either way the girls had a blast, in fact we didn't even play half the games we set out to play. We set our blankets out under the trees near the white church and enjoyed yummy treats. The girls then played Frisbee and made up games running all around the yard. Easiest party we've thrown so far. Next year the girls are splitting up, the older girls are moving on and the younger ones are forming a new group to fit their age better. Good news is Rachael will be in the new group and it will be on the same night and in a classroom next to each other. Makes it easier on us moms with more than one girl. Rachael is very excited about starting little flowers in the fall.

Swim Lessons

The kids were so excited to start swim lessons especially when they found out that they will be in the same class with some of their friends. They are all doing well with continued improvement from last year. Way to go kids! We did splurge and got another above ground pool for our backyard which helps the kids practice their techniques taught in lessons. It still amazes me to see Rachael, as little as she is, swim throughout the pool withOUT a puddle jumper on. Still, with little body fat her instructor told her she won't float as easily as others especially on her back. Which we noticed this to be true, she sinks as soon as we place her on her back. Of course it got me thinking, the trade off to having no body fat is I won't float...I could live with that.

Matthew's First Communion

Matthew made his first communion on May 7th. Matthew's godmother Aunt Pam came up for the occasion which was a tremendous help for me...thank you Aunt Pam! Many of Matthew's friends and their families came over after to celebrate with us. I was so busy playing hostess that I did not get very many good pictures :( But the fun memories will stay in my head forever...I can still picture the group of boys all circled around, lying on their stomachs down on the ceramic tile to play the ninja Lego game Ninjago. Every few minutes you could hear a yell out of victory. We'd all stop and smile down at how much they were enjoying themselves. Congratulations Matthew!
