Our biggest event for July was celebrating Rachael's 5Th birthday! How fun to have a summer birthday...a reason to throw a luau! Rachael and the kids loved the idea! We invited a couple of Rachael's friends to join us in our festivities. They limboed to Chubby Checker's "Limbo Rock" and played hot potato with a coconut to Hawaiian music. When that was done, they all went swimming in the pool. Happy Birthday Rachael!
With temperatures in the triple digits all month, we spent most of the time in the pool or at swim lessons. School lessons resumed in the afternoon times when it was too hot to do anything. Ava and Matthew finished with Astronomy at the end of the month and Rachael is on her next set of readers. We have a count down to our Florida vacation on the white board in the classroom. Its funny how some of the days go by faster than others, especially when we have 2 monkeys lowering the number of days we have left in hopes of a faster approaching vacation.
Music lessons continues for 2 more weeks this month and then we'll have a 6 week break. Rachael went in for her scheduled violin tryout (to see if she's ready.) It did not go too well, especially when Matt could not get her out from under the chair. We all agreed she's not ready. We also signed her up for ballet, which she has asked for lessons several times from us. Well, when we went to buy her shoes, she refused to get out of the car and stated she did NOT want to take ballet lessons. I guess she's not ready for that either so we pulled her out. I'm actually okay with it being that the place was all the way in Allen. We can put it off as long as she wants.
