Our Collins Clan: May 2023

Ballet theme for this year's recital was a tribute to Balanchine, the famous choreographer. The featured dances were: Serenade, Apollo, Jewels, and Stars N Stripes. Rachael danced in Serenade and was a "male" dancer for Jewels (since we didn't have enough boys for partnering, they had several girls do it for fun). Jillian danced in Jewels. Then after the ballet, we had an intermission and all the different genres of dance for Living our Best Life. Rachael and Jillian dance hip hop, jazz, contemporary. Jillian performed tap and acro as well.

Jillian received a "Dancer of the year" award from Ms. Kyra. (they're standing in the dark on the left side of pic below) which earned her a scholarship for $ of off monthly tuition!!!

This year's theme for Texas Christian Homeschool Prom was "Broadway!" The Playbills featured all our favorites musicals and shows including: Phantom of the Opera, Oklahoma, Elf, Singing in the Rain, Wicked, and Newsies. They even had an opera singer playing the role of Phantom and would display his wonderful singing talents when you'd stop to take pictures. Rachael and her friends had an amazing time and got home ~2am. Unfortunately that meant only 3 hours sleep as she was due to perform her ballet/dance recital that next morning. See next post.
