summer moments

I did not think it possible but it seems life has sped up even more after Ava's wedding. I'm sure every mom feels this way as they inch closer to being empty nesters. Ava has settled into her home at Vance Air Force base, and we even got to spend a weekend (twins stayed a whole week) with her and Joe.  They got a new puppy named Waffles who is just adorable.

Rachael turned 17 and passed her drivers license. Since our old "kid car" bit the dust, we still need to get a new beater for the next 3 kiddos to drive. phew! Rachael has been working all summer and continues through the school year. Rachael is a senior this year and all final year activities are in the planning. She earned a lead principal role as Snow Queen in the upcoming Nutcracker. She will be attending her last HOCO dance next week at a new location in Flower Mound.

Jillian and Jake turned 15! Ava and Joe came back into town to help us celebrate September birthdays. Unfortunately, I did not get that many pictures, but the whole crowd was there. Jillian went to a 3 day weekend retreat with a friend at St. Ann's youth group. They had a blast and she definitely wants to go again! Growing up in a small parish, I've never seen such a large youth group! They took 7 full size school buses! Jillian has many roles this year in nutcracker with her main principal role as Spanish Princess. She will also be one of Clara's friends with some featured dancing, along with performing snow and waltz of the flower routine with her class.

Jake and his national team competed in Junior Olympics in Cali this past July. Again, great fun, lots of experience, and they actually won some of the games (the toughest teams in the world come to play here.) Jake was picked out from some of the college recruiters there until Matt told him how old he was (it is illegal to recruit before senior year.) We'll see what the future hold for Jake. Right now, he is resting from waterpolo as the new UIL terms, he cannot play unless he is enrolled in high school so only if a consolidated team forms would be able to play. It's just for 1 season and then  starts club season in the spring and onto Olympic development.

Matthew was home all summer working to save up for another year at SFA. He and his roommate have moved into an apt by the school to save money. He moved in early August and started his fall semester back the end of August. Matthew still plans to graduate with a criminal justice degree and minor in psychology. Prayers for another good school year.

I think that sums up most of our activities these past weeks/months. Looking forwarded to some cooler weather and nutcracker performances.
