We prepare for this event every year starting the summer before when the girls' audition for roles. Needless to say, it is a long journey to get to showtime for the dancers as they tirelessly have extra rehearsals and the parents who have to drive them and wait in the car as they go over scheduled time just to get a part right. So by the time we get to watch the actual performance, the emotions are all over the place (in a good way.)
This year Rachael earned her first solo principal role as The Reed Flute Princess. She also danced as a snowflake and flower which all the advanced ballet students dance since it is super challenging. Jillian is not far from Rachael in her skill as she earned the role of one of the Chinese Princess. She also danced as a party guest and was selected as an Arabian dancer due to her acro skills and flexibility. Both girls performed beautifully (after a bunch of Hail Mary's prayed from this mama as I have seen their practice videos.) We had lots of friends come to see the girls' performance and we continued to hear the compliments of the quality of dance and dancers this studio puts out. The girls' danced their hearts out and it shows. I'm so proud of how dance has elevated their introverted personalities to leadership roles and it has spread to every other aspect of their lives.
